I sympathize with the family of Victoria Lindsay, the girl who was brutally beaten by eight classmates on video. Nevertheless, I must call bullshit on the mass media’s inordinate focus on the fact that the video was posted on YouTube. I have yet to see any of these mass media outlets acknowledge that YouTube actually […]

Lindsay Campbell is known for her irreverence, but never let it be said that online video stars are all fun and silliness. She gets somber in the latest episode of Mob Logic, keeping score of five years in Iraq.

CBS launches its new online news show: Mob Logic. Host Lindsay Campbell lends it the same candidly irreverent tone that made CBS acquisition Wallstrip a hit.
See, this is the kind of content that succeeds inside online video: shortform and conversational, not longform and one-sided. CBS knows this, and isn’t just relying on TV shovelware online.

Lindsay Campbell is leaving Wallstrip for a new CBS online news show, Moblogic.tv. Replacing Lindsay on Wallstrip will be former guest host Julie Alexandria.
CBS may well prove that star rotation […]

Even big media can get hip sometimes. Congratulations to Reuters on providing embed codes for their videos. The embed itself is pretty sparse by today’s online video standards — no fullscreen, no related videos — but it’s a start. The Associated Press has some catching up to do.

Oliver Luft, Om Malik, and Liz Gannes all highlight how the BBC is looking for greater relevance and added value in online video use. I’d like to point out something else BBC News Interactive head Pete Clifton mentioned at the Future of News Conference, something far too many online marketers still don’t understand: video embeds […]
