For all the people blaming YouTube and MySpace and other online video sites for the beating of Victoria Lindsay, let me remind you where the real exploitative douchebags are: offline video, aka TV. One of Dr. Phil’s producers just bailed out one of Ms. Lindsay’s attackers, Mercades Nichols, for an exclusive interview.

As YouTube rolls out higher-quality videos, Ionut Alex Chitu shows us how to download those higher-quality videos as MP4 files.
YouTube’s mobile client doesn’t always work with my carrier’s crappy 3G service, so those MP4 downloads should come in handy for mobile video.

You know what happens to anything considered “non-notable” or “unencyclopedic” on Jimmy Wales’ nonprofit Wikipedia? Why, it becomes potential content for Jimmy Wales’ for-profit Wikia, of course!
Steve Bryant notes that the Wikipedia list of YouTube stars is woefully incomplete. See, Wikipedia still thinks that certain things are not “notable” enough to be “encyclopedic”. Of course, […]

I sympathize with the family of Victoria Lindsay, the girl who was brutally beaten by eight classmates on video. Nevertheless, I must call bullshit on the mass media’s inordinate focus on the fact that the video was posted on YouTube. I have yet to see any of these mass media outlets acknowledge that YouTube actually […]

If nothing else, this meme will tell us who on YouTube has the prettiest shoulders. Nalts compiles the best clips from the latest meme sweeping YouTube: vlogging naked.
Yes, I know you have a wishlist for this meme. I’m not ashamed to say Marina’s on my wishlist. Who’s on yours?

Not only is Flickr video crippled, it’s also attracted the ire of Flickr photo purists. The group No Video on Flickr now has over 10,000 members.
Count me in. I’m not a photo purist, I just hate seeing my favorite photo-sharing site embarrass itself with a hopelessly limited video option.

The video above is YouTube’s current top search result for the query sex. Unfortunately, it’s just two hot chicks making out — with clothes on, to boot.
I feel cheated. I’m sticking with RedTube for real streaming porn.
Since YouTube is the world’s number one online video destination, its search terms make a pretty good reflection […]

Some say the US Presidential election of 2008 will be the YouTube election. College Humor says it will be the viral video election. See how many viral video classics you can identify in this political message.
This thing has serious sequel potential. There are just so many viral videos to parody.

Flickr Video can hardly be called video. A ninety-second time limit makes it nothing but an optional add-on to the (admittedly excellent) Flickr photo-sharing service. I do mean optional: only paid users can upload videos.
While I must applaud Flickr on maintaining product focus and not trying to compete with YouTube, I fail to see the […]

Since YouTube just made Rickrolling mainstream, linking to the original version of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up has just become too common. Distinguish yourself above other Rickrollers and impress the geek babes in your life by linking to the classiest, sexiest version on YouTube: the 2005 live performance, complete with sexy violinists and […]
