Vator.tv: YouTube for Startups

by Mike Abundo on June 7th, 2007

Got a hot startup? Looking for funding? Then fire up your videocam, because Vator.tv just launched. While it doesn’t introduce any cool new technology — in fact, it’s rather clunky — this video-sharing site caters to a very interesting vertical: entrepreneurs making video elevator pitches.

Personally, I don’t like the fact that Vator’s embeds click through to the same window. That’s a disincentive for people to embed its videos. That it’s founded by MarketWatch alumna Bambi Francisco certainly helps, but you can only go so far on a famous name and editorial content. You need tech and strategy to go with it.

YouTube currently has special account types for users with specific needs: Director, Comedian, Musician, Guru. Wonder if they’ll come up with “Entrepreneur” in response to Vator.
