NJ Sues YouTube for Car Crash Footage
I’d expect this kind of stupidity from Thailand, but certainly not from New Jersey. The New Jersey Tunrpike Authority is suing YouTube for car crash footage, even though YouTube’s already complying with their DMCA takedown notices.
Let’s step back for a minute here. Video footage of a newsworthy event of public interest, officially recorded by public servants who won’t sell it anyway (Heaven forbid!), that gets taken down according to the law, is getting YouTube in trouble. Unless some corrupt asshole at the NJTA wants to sell this footage for some TV network to make The World’s Worst Car Crashes XXXVIII, this suit is as pointless as it is frivolous.

Hopefully Google stands up and fights this absurdity too.
