NBA Selling Playoff Videos Onsite

by Mike Abundo on April 30th, 2007

Huge distribution channels like YouTube (ad-supported) and iTunes (sales-supported) bring in much-needed built-in traffic, but businesses should also learn to deliver video straight to their users onsite. That way, they get a bigger cut of the pie and a bigger glass of Google juice. That’s what the NBA is doing, making playoff videos available as paid downloads.

Onsite pay-per-file solutions have been around for years, and could find renewed use during the rise of online video. Software and service vendors would do well to update their marketing of such solutions accordingly.
