BeautyRiot announces web video contest
BeautyRiot.com, a top ten beauty web site according to Alexa, announced its “New Face of Beauty” spokesmodel search opened for entries on March 2. BeautyRiot touts the competition as a spokesmodel contest for real women, and women who “break the beauty rules” are encouraged to participate. Women of all ages, shapes and sizes are invited to enter by going to http://www.BeautyRiot.com/NFOB and submitting a one minute or shorter web video describing why they represent the “New Face of Beauty.” Entries will be accepted through March 27, 2007. On March 28, 26 finalists will be named – 13 aged 18-34, and 13 over age 34. After a 12 week video challenge series, two women will be named “The New Face of Beauty,” becoming BeautyRiot.com’s spokesmodels in addition receiving prizes.
A celebrity judge panel, including Tammy Trenta from season five of “The Apprentice,” Jess Zaino from the Style Network’s “Modern Girl’s Guide to Life” TV show, Tia Williams author of “The Accidental Diva” and former “Elle” magazine beauty editor, and more, will lead the judging process. Each week the finalists will submit a short video in response to a challenge such as “tell us your favorite joke” or “describe what beauty means to you.” The judge panel will score each video according to a set of criteria. In addition to the judge panel, BeautyRiot.com’s audience will be able to vote for their favorite videos using technology from Revver, the first marketplace for viral videos. Each week, the contestant with the lowest score will be eliminated until only one final winner in each age category remains.
